FAQ: Can graphics be commissioned from Graphic News?

Graphics are not produced on commission so all resources can remain focused on the needs of all our subscribers.

Our creative staff are our scarcest resource. It is not just that we don’t want to divert some to work for particular customers, there is also a world of difference between what is required to do commission work and working in an agency such as Graphic News.

Graphic designers that produce graphics on commission obtain the information and direction from the commissioning editor. The most important objective is that this editor, the customer, is happy with the end result.

At Graphic News we need to keep all our subscribers happy. We have to do our own research and generate our own ideas and direction. The topics chosen may not be of interest to all our subscribers all the time, but they need to appeal to as many as possible. It is very difficult for someone with the drive required to do this - to be a graphic journalists as part of the Graphic News team - to then produce graphics on commission from a particular editor.

So rather than offer to do commission work, we can recommend artists who enjoy the challenge of doing commission work.

We do however welcome suggestions for graphics, and if a graphic is produced as a result of such a suggestion it is available to all subscribers at no additional cost.
