Wildfires force mass evacuation in France

NICE -- Wildires near Bormes-les-Mimoses, in the France's Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region have forced the evacuation of 10,000 people overnight.

One of the worst fires is raging in an area near the popular resort of Saint-Tropez. Some 4,000 hectares (9,900 acres) of land have burned along the Mediterranean coast, in the mountainous interior and on the island of Corsica.

Nations pledging to ban petrol cars

ENVIRONMENT -- The UK plans to ban new diesel and petrol cars from 2040 in a bid to combat pollution, adding to a roster of nations making similar pledges.
